Beautiful habitat walks in and around Brisbane

Brisbane Walks

Brisbane is the proud capital of Queensland and from the high-rise building in the CBD, national parks can be seen in the distance in all directions.

Mt Coot-tha hovers over the western suburbs and though close to the city, walking here gives a feeling of being completely away from the stress of fast-paced life.

A series of walking tracks offers the perfect way to enjoy a meander through this habitat. Leisure facilities include picnic areas and tables with gas-burning BBQs. The mountain is a popular escape refuge from the hustle and bustle of the inner city shopping and commerce.

East across the bay that separates the mouth of the Brisbane River from the indigo waters of the South Pacific Ocean is one of the gems in the network of Queensland national parks. Moreton Island is now 97% protected as a national park with the remaining portion of freehold land used for small recreational communities and resorts.

Between Brisbane and the Gold Coast at Daisy Hill, you'll find the hidden gem of Venman Bushland National Park, noted for it's Koala Walk, and one of South East Queensland's major Koala habitats.

Skirting Moreton Bay, the Boondall Wetlands brings the walker in close contact with the tidal interchange habitat.

Brisbane Forest Park is located in the suburb of The Gap. There are 14 separate recreation areas and more than 30kms of walking tracks. Discover remote gorges, sheltered pockets of sub-tropical rainforest, and expanses of eucalypt woodland. The cool mountain tops and forest flats of Brisbane Forest Park provide a rich and varied habitat for wildlife. The cooler mountain climate is ideal for plant species such as ferns and mosses.

Take a walk in Brisbane, the opportunities are boundless.
