Shopping

Whether you're a dedicated shopping addict or a casual browser looking for something unique, Brisbane has it all.

There are pedestrian malls that seem purpose built for the zig zagging serious shopper; there's interesting and quirky streets filled with brands and specialty stores, and then there are the modern shopping plazas lined with marble, glass and steel and the very latest in international and national labels.

The centrepiece of shopping in Brisbane is undoubtedly the Queen Street Mall, featuring a colourful mix of heritage facades, historic arcades and brand new shopping galleries.
Bold new architecture and sculptures set the scene, whilst shade giving canopies and a vast array of pavement cafes provide respite for the tired shopper.

For the lover of things eclectic, Fortitude Valley beckons. Known as "The Valley", this shopping mecca is a haven for the young and funky. Centred on the junction of Ann and Brunswick Street, this is the place for boutique fashion labels, street smart shoes, unique jewellery and the very latest in cool club wear.

Away from the city centre, Brisbane boasts a number of superb suburban shopping precincts. Colourful, wonderful and, these pockets of the city are a joy to explore.

Park Road, Milton, is only 2km from the city and is easily accessible by taxi, rail or bus. Glamour is the order of the day here, with the area boasting everything from antiques to one-off jewellery pieces to Cuban cigars. Stones Corner is the place for bargains, with the precinct around Logan Road playing home to seconds and samples stores for big-name brands and imported shoe specialists. In the inner west, Paddington is peppered by unique specialty stores and award-winning restaurants and cafes, with the main shopping precinct running along Given and Latrobe Terraces.

And if you're a fan of markets, Brisbane is the place for you. A number of outdoor markets operate around the city every weekend, some of which you will find right down by the river, plying their trade beneath the shade of huge Bay trees. Fresh produce, clothing, trinkets, massages and delicious food stalls are just a few of the things you'll find at the markets, making them the ideal way to spend a morning or two.
